Kent Valentine is an engaging storyteller. He makes a great connection with the audience and lets the funny just happen, without trying to manipulate or force jokes. Good writing, good improvisation, good laughs - fun!... full review

i've seen all of these guys over the past few days, and i really can't find anything negative to say about any of them. every performance had me laughing so hard i nearly pee'd in my pants. life of si blew me away! the multimedia interaction was bloody brilliant! go slow with mark allen left me pondering my own pace in life. kent valentine brought me to my knees with his long-form stories. nik coppin was hilariously scatter-brained. ivo and nas playing off one another was a glimpse at pure genius! james sherwood at the piano's hilarious musical stylings are still stuck in my head on repeat. and, of course, the inimitable jim smallman. he can work any audience. he almost doesn't need an act, i'd enjoy listening to him go back and forth with t... full review

Mark Allen's Go Slow is a fully realized performance. Allen is a skilled storyteller and comedian. Best of all, he's got something culturally relevant to talk about in a very entertaining and hilarious way.... full review

Nik Coppin's "Half Black" is a non-stop fast-talking comedy routine that has you alternating between laughing and wondering, "How does this guy KNOW so much about spiders and sharks?!" In some ways, it was like flipping back and forth between Comedy Central and Animal Planet, and in a good way! As the title suggests, Nik Coppin touches upon the fact that he is "Half Black" in the many stories he tells from his travels around the world, but he never gives you the impression that he has suffered because of it. While there were the requisite "groan" jokes about black stereotypes, Nik seemed to enjoy these as much as the jokes that got big laughs which in turn, won over the audience. Nik's ease with audience interaction lets you know he is... full review

Specifically for Ivo & Naz. Standard stand up [and by standard I mean they got up in front of you and did stand up]. Both were very funny. Comfortable doing what they were doing. Great ability to improv & work with the audience & unexpected occurrences (i.e. a woman getting up and leaving & then reentering during the set because she needed a cigarette so badly...ugh.). Comedy seemed to transfer well from Britain. Nothing that didn't translate. Engaging routines that are slightly more targeted for those of us in our 20s however everyone there seemed to be really enjoying it no matter their age. Had a great time. Highly recommend checking out their set. Now - June 27th @7pm @ IDA 6755 Hollywood Blvd. ... full review

This is specific to "Life of SI" -- The quibbling duo, Simon Feilder and Sy Thomas, have a fun repertoire but their comedic strength really lies in their videos. ... full review

This is a review of "Life of Si". Two clever, talented, and endearing performers made myself and what seemed to be the entire rest of the audience laugh for nearly an hour. I will echo previous sentiments that the videos were the strong suit of the piece, but I felt that the live performances offered some great comic morsels as well. In the end, I was thoroughly entertained and I believe that was the artist's goal-to have a good time and share their talents. ... full review
