Susannah Blinkoff's journey as told through a really tight 70 minute set was terrific. It was bold and honest and quite entertaining. Her personal struggle as the child of a successful composer, searching to find her own voice works on so many levels. Her own compositions are outstanding in an evening that would be in a lesser performers hands maudlin and self indigent. Her band , headed by John Balinger catches a great groove and sets a sweet tone, for a really engaging evening.... full review

Susannah is funny and honest and an incredible singer. And some of the songs took me right back to being a kid ...I found myself singing along with her. What a wonderful wonderful show!... full review

I bought tickets to the show, but unfortunately was not allowed in at the door. I was DEEPLY disappointed, in no small part because I rode my bicycle...from Reseda. But I had an expensive Camelback water bottle that the doorman wouldn't let me take in. He pointed to his feet and some store-bought water bottles there, on their side on the ground, and said he'd watch it for me. I asked if I could at least ask management to make an exception and allow me to tuck my bottle away inside. I put my mouth on that bottle and didn't want it rolling on a patch of ground where gallons of spit and urine have been deposited over the years and again, because it wasn't cheap. Also, the doorman has no vested interest in watching over my water bottle. ... full review

For anyone who's ever grown up in someone's shadow -- be it an older sibling, a distant relative, or (in this case) a parent -- this show nails it! Through her own songs and those of her famous mother (songwriter-singer Carol Hall of "Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" and so many others), Susannah makes a musical case for leaving the nest and finding one's own spotlight that will have you singing and applauding her very unique talents. This is one of the most entertaining evenings I've had all year. I could not recommend it more highly.... full review

This was such a touching, inspiring show! In just over an hour Susannah shares her story of growing up the daughter of composer Carol Hall, and weaves her mother's songs, and her songs seamlessly through the story. Both mother and daughter have such a knack for writing songs that are so personal and yet so universal at the same time, songs that tell stories and have you humming along. And Susannah tells her story with an honest, humorous, raw, courageous energy. It's a journey of love between mother and child, between creativity and identity, and with self. Do yourself a favor and see it!!!... full review

"Daughter Of…" is a musical memoir, written and performed by singer/actress/songwriter Susannah Blinkoff.  In a performance that has the feel of a wonderful, juicy conversation, Blinkoff intertwines life, love, laughs and art and pays tribute to the spell that her mother (composer/lyricist/singer) Carol Hall wove over her audience -- while Blinkoff weaves a spell of her own! Blinkoff is expertly backed on guitar/keyboards, percussion and bass by the terrific John Ballinger, Ray McNamara and Mark Sims and beautifully directed with wit and flawless taste (as always) by the magnificently talented and creative Stan Zimmerman.... full review
