Directed for laughs and heart by Richard Pierce, the story begins as a seduction from a skilled and practiced seducer- Maria Conchita Alfonso, Alfonso, Alfonso herself -a much married, former talk show host with an aging Latin following.
As a matter of fact, the mother of her current prey-a handome actor/waiter-convincingly played by Ramon Camacho-is a huge fan of Maria’s. Confronted with the object of his boyhood desires, our waiter surprises Maria with a few tricks of his own.
Palmier is not afraid to bare her soul or her midriff as an aging actress concerned about younger competition and the cruelty of time. No one of a certain age should look as good as Palmier—No Toreador ever looked better.
