My overall impression

Beautiful talent… powerful story… wonderful music… just a few of elements that make this show a gem. I wasn’t familiar with Yoko’s story when I walked into the theater… but was immediately drawn in by the frenzied and passionate drum-dancing performed by Rebecca Ocampo and Deja Soufka. We were transported through the controversial tale of John Lennon and Yoko’s love affair under Nell Teare’s artful direction and choreography… not to mention the powerful, soul-shaking vocals of Anzu Lawson (playing Yoko.) She brought so much heart and wisdom to Yoko that I walked away a new fan of this progressive, peace-pushing artist. Tom Mesmer plays a great John Lennon with a passionate rock n’ roll voice and classic wire-rimmed glasses. This shortened version makes me wanna come back for the full show. Don’t miss this trimmed-down, artistically told tale that packs a punch to the heart… a must see!
