Following its success at several Irish festivals, including The Galway Fringe Festival 2012, Irish playwright Patrick O’ Byrne, who recently moved to L.A., is proud to present the American premiere of his award winning one-act play Ahhhh Lad!!

An annual St. Patrick’s Week pilgrimage to New York sees two Irish friends drink their days away in the city bars. The good times are rolling but a prank by his friend Tommy is the last straw for Jack, who feels the ‘good times’ just aren’t enough for him anymore. He wants a life of purpose.
But whose advice should he listen to? The in-the-know bar owner, Stan, who sees great possibilities for Jack in New York, or his best friend, Tommy, who makes him see how much he is a great friend to Tommy himself and an important part of his local community back home.
There is a desperation, fear and loneliness hidden beneath the unforgiving, cruel sentiments and boorish language that the characters pummel each other with relentlessly throughout the play.
Ahhhh Lad!! is a funny and heartfelt look at the psyche of the modern Irish working-class male that will leave you questioning home values and the allure of the All American Dream.
