My overall impression
In the final analysis, “Bittersweet Love” is surprisingly more sweet than bitter, despite a tone of solemnity and seriousness that pervades much of the hour-long production. Exploring the concept of “love” in its different physical and mental permutations, race, gender or even, perhaps, humanity itself (one jaw-dropping aerial act threatens to sail right up to the heavens) the viewer is left with less a feeling of having been enlightened than reminded of the potential that is inside us all. Watching human forms twisting and struggling against gravity and each other, then finally coming together (blissfully or otherwise) again and again is a reminder of how equal we are and simultaneously how separate we are too.
