To do the Bard justice you don’t need to have lavish sets or costumes. You need good ideas, fresh takes, and actors who are unafraid of the mountain of text before them. That is exactly what Yours is Mine’s Twelfth Night had. It had great new ways of playing classical text. It had beautiful music. It had you paying attention to every end line.
This show was hilarious. I found myself laughing hysterically throughout. While it’s a piece I am incredibly familiar with, I felt as though I was hearing a lot of the text for the first time.
A fantastic letter scene, and an ingenious idea to have a Maria/Antonio played by the same person and Toby/Sebastian played by the same person. So great!
If you’re looking for something like that TV show masterpiece theatre, I recommend you don’t see this show, but if you are looking to enjoy Shakespeare, then you must see it!
