My overall impression

A wonderful production! My 11 year old daughter and I found this show online yesterday afternoon and decided to try it out. We were not disappointed. It was the perfect introduction to Shakespeare for a young theater fan. The choreography and staging with the support of live music made the play extremely accessible for someone new to the Bard. We especially liked the way the actors played multiple characters and the creative way they changed costume on stage in the middle of scenes. The most clever scene was the brawl between Sir Toby and Sebastian, but our favorite scene had to be when Sir Andrew, Toby and Maria spied on Malvolio as he read the forged letter. We laughed out loud many time through out the performance. Toby, Sir Andrew and Malvolio lead the comedic charge, but all of the actors deserve praise for executing their parts with great skill. Their work helped the others shine.

Small intimate productions are so much fun, but it is difficult to find shows with age-appropriate content for a middle school girl. Children’s theater can be too juvenile and many other plays have mature themes. This production was a perfect blend on intelligent comedy with a touch of romance that would be perfect for any age group.

What a great evening of fun! My daughter and I recommend this performance highly.
