Soot is a personal comment on the sexuality and power within Rap music and how that interprets the way we look at the “body” of the performance. It is a short play that is a personal response to A Doll House and the patriarchal beliefs that went along with it. The play is about three women torn between the expectations of the music business they live in and also the physical roles they have to take in ensuring their success. It is filled with language, high energy, and music as an element of discussion on the constrained world they live in.
