I really enjoyed watching Cecily by Gillian Plowman. I appreciated the plot twists and an unexpected revelation that was handled deftly by the three very strong actresses. This play provoked new ideas for me about perceived responsibilities and sacrifice in a family. Dionne Neish shines as she gives a strong, moving performance as a woman who must stand up for herself in response to years of unfulfilled dreams. If you enjoy contemporary plays about relationships being pushed to the limit, go see Cecily. ... full review

Beautifully acted, this intricately woven story of past and present led us through a gauntlet of emotions and theoretical catch-22's. This play's actors offered rich, dynamic and commanding performances, giving us plenty to think and talk about on the way home. Special kudos go to Dionne Neish, for her bravely unflinching portrait of a woman driven to the brink of her own moral compass. Go see it.... full review

I had the pleasure of seeing Cecily, and I was thoroughly moved by not only the story, but the actresses involved. A heartbreaking and sensitive story of family, love, sacrifice and guilt, Cecily is both thought-provoking and haunting... a true slice-of-life story, albeit one of wrenching subject matter. Having been a caretaker in the past, the story really resonated with me and what it truly means to give over to another human being, of being self-less and, consequently, exhausted and hopeless at times. The actresses did a wonderful job of conveying all these emotions in tightly-wound circumstances. Bravo to this production! ... full review

Cecily, simply put, is incredible. From the amazing acting of the three actresses to the spot-on direction and beautiful lighting design, this is a true tour de force. The story is heart-wrenching and thought-provoking and will leave you wanting more. This is a Fringe show not to miss!... full review

If you want to see some truly fantastic acting, go see Cecily. The relationships between the actresses were some of the best I've ever seen (was I watching a real family on stage? It sure seemed like it!). I would love to see this play developed further because I felt it stopped rather abruptly and I was definitely left wanting more (which in this case was a good thing!).... full review

I still find myself thinking about Cecily even though I saw it a couple of days ago. I am so happy I stumbled upon it (I was a walk-in). The emotional connection between the three actresses was amazing, real and raw. The flashbacks were particularly beautiful, yet difficult for me to watch because I was able to get a glimpse of the once vibrant Cecily in all her innocence and youth. Esther Mira was brilliant at capturing both the present, broken Cecily and the past Cecily. And Dionne Neish was phenomenal as the mother who has done everything she can as a caregiver and feels she has run out of options. This is a show not to be missed.... full review

I am a fringe fan and went to see this beautiful play last week, I highly recommend it! I walked into a great little theatre that I have never been to. Everyone was very kind. Cecily is a story about family and the trials and tribulations that come with change. There were 3 actors in it, all of them EXTREMELY talented, especially Dionne Neish, originally from London. She is beautiful and has so much strength. It was hard to keep my eyes off of her. All the talented actors told the story simply and truthfully. The play was only about 50 minutes long but it left me wanting more. If you are out looking for a fringe show to see, I highly recommend this show! ... full review
