Ligature Marks by Mac Rogers is a brilliant marriage of strong, intense, specific acting, simple but precise directing and fast, insightful, witty writing. The quirkiness of the story is reminiscent of Woody Allen meeting Sam Shepard. On the strength of the substance of the material and the execution by all involved, this is another great show to see here in the Hollywood Fringe Festival....

Ligature Marks is a story about our inability to escape our own worst habits – how we often intentionally choose the villains in our lives. Loser Terry is just released from prison after serving a sentence for stealing money in order to escape a destructive relationship with his ex, the pathologically overbearing Jill. It might be surprising, then, to learn that he spends his first night of freedom trapped, back in Jill’s apartment, sleeping on her couch. However, the play posits that this is not surprising, that the only real surprise would have been if Terry or Jill had changed in the two years he had been gone....
