My overall impression

I had the privilege of watching Bonnie Joy Sludikoff’s one woman show “That’s What She Didn’t Say” last night, and am still emotionally raw by what she was brave enough to share. Sexual abuse is always so conveniently swept under the rug, and the fact that it’s so prevalent yet disturbingly overlooked (the statistic Bonnie shares in the show of 1 in 3 women being abused was shocking, but even more so when you realize those are only the reported cases) incenses me, and makes me even more proud of Bonnie for educating me by being courageous enough to tell her story. I loved the show for shedding light on topics that aren’t often talked about, but also for being funny and heartwarming, like when she talked about her first crush and love of musical theatre. Bonnie is a deeply engaging performer with a terrific singing voice, great stage presence, and mad puppet skills (she plays the guitar too!). Kudos to Bonnie and the whole TWSDS team for a valiant night of Theatre… it’s one I will never forget!
