My overall impression

Bonnie’s writing is bulletproof. I’m pretty sure if most us got up on stage and told the audience our deepest darkest secrets it wouldn’t be even half as entertaining as “That’s What She Didn’t Say”. Despite technical issues with the lights, a couple flies looking for stage time, and a photographer firing away right next to my ear, I couldn’t help but be pulled into Bonnie’s brutally honest story. Here’s a girl putting her heart out on the line for all of us to see. The drama is not easy to swallow, but the fine notes of musical theater help wash down the heavy stuff. I felt like I had a chance to experience what it’s like to be Bonnie and it was both fascinating and terrifying. Abuse, emotional repression, and artistic expression are the topics that speak to me most from this show. Everyone will pull some inspiration, education, and of course entertainment from this show because Bonnie challenges us all to start expressing the things we’ve been too afraid to say.
