What I liked
Here’s a well-written and natural completion of the section:
What I Liked…
What I like most about my work is the perfect balance between creativity and measurable results. There’s nothing more satisfying than redesigning a confusing registration flow and watching the conversion rate jump, or simplifying a cluttered game lobby and seeing players spend more time exploring and enjoying the platform.
I love the challenge of understanding real player behavior — how people navigate under pressure, what makes them trust a casino site, and which small details can turn a good experience into an outstanding one. Every heatmap, user session recording, and feedback comment gives me new insights I can turn into better designs.
I particularly enjoy:
Creating smooth, fast, and intuitive mobile experiences for players on the go
Designing reward systems and loyalty interfaces that feel genuinely exciting
Working on dark-mode casino designs that look premium and modern
Turning complex processes (like KYC verification or bonus claiming) into simple, frictionless steps
I believe great UX/UI in the casino industry isn’t just about looking beautiful — it’s about building trust, reducing frustration, and making every interaction feel effortless and enjoyable.
When I see players staying longer, returning more often, and leaving positive feedback about how easy and pleasant the platform feels, that’s what makes my job truly rewarding.
What I didn't like
While I’m proud of the progress we’ve made, there are always areas where we can do better. In the fast-moving casino industry, user expectations are constantly rising, and I’m very focused on identifying and fixing friction points.
Here’s what I believe we can still improve:
Mobile Experience: Even though our platform is fully responsive, some game filters and account sections could be even more touch-friendly and faster on lower-end devices commonly used in our market.
Onboarding Process: We can make the first-time user journey smoother by reducing the number of steps and adding more contextual help tooltips during registration and first deposit.
Accessibility: I’m working on further improving color contrast, screen reader compatibility, and keyboard navigation so that our platform becomes truly inclusive for all players.
Personalization: Currently, the interface is quite general. I want to introduce smarter, data-driven personalization — showing the right games, bonuses, and payment methods based on player behavior.
Loading Speed: Every millisecond counts. I’m constantly pushing for lighter design elements and better image optimization to make the site feel lightning-fast.
I strongly believe that admitting what can be improved is the first step to creating truly exceptional products. That’s why I regularly collect player feedback, analyze drop-off points, and run usability tests. My goal is not just to make the platform look good today, but to make it significantly better month after month.
My overall impression
Hi, I’m Shirley G. Nelson, a UX/UI Specialist focused on creating exceptional user experiences for online casino platforms.
With over eight years of experience in digital design and a strong background in the iGaming industry, I specialize in designing and optimizing intuitive, visually appealing, and high-converting interfaces for both desktop and mobile casino platforms.
I currently work as the Lead UX/UI Designer at Rsa-Bet.co.za, one of South Africa’s fastest-growing casino and betting portals. My role involves researching user behavior, redesigning website layouts, improving navigation flows, and enhancing the overall mobile app experience to make it smoother, faster, and more enjoyable for players.
I’m passionate about bridging the gap between beautiful design and functional performance. Every project I work on aims to reduce friction — whether it’s simplifying the registration process, making deposits and withdrawals effortless, creating clear game lobbies, or designing an intuitive account dashboard. I focus heavily on mobile-first design, accessibility, and loading speed, which are critical in the competitive casino market.
My approach combines user research, A/B testing, heatmaps, and analytics to make data-driven design decisions. I work closely with developers, product managers, and marketing teams to ensure every interface update not only looks great but also delivers measurable improvements in user engagement and conversion rates.
I take particular pride in creating designs that feel premium yet accessible — clean layouts, logical user flows, attractive color schemes, and thoughtful micro-interactions that make players feel valued and confident while using our platform.
Before joining Rsa-Bet.co.za, I collaborated with several international casino operators, helping them modernize outdated platforms and significantly improve player retention through better UX.
I believe that a great casino experience starts the moment a user lands on the site. My mission is to remove every obstacle and turn every visit into a seamless, exciting journey.
When I’m not working on wireframes or prototypes, you’ll find me studying the latest design trends, testing new casino apps, or looking for innovative ways to enhance the player journey.
