I loved that this show efficiently balanced comedy, science, gender and sexuality politics, and performance art within the span of an hour. Natalia builds great rapport with her audiences. The effort she puts in entertaining and educating people makes those who aren’t academics or artists, greatly respect her craft and take in the message she wants to share.
What I didn't like
The show is vastly improving with each and every performance. Natalia is gradually working in more about her very interesting life story and finding other creative ways to involve the audience in learning about the science of animals.
My overall impression
Natalia’s first impression on anyone is that she can effortlessly flow as a performer and make a comedic moment out of anything. Her clever wordplay, humorous delivery, intelligent observations, and vibrant visuals, naturally blend into an extremely creative and informative show.
What she’s done with Survival of the Filthiest is a testament to her genius. How many other comedy shows give audiences the chance to laugh constantly, absorb fun facts about animals, become a temporary game show contestant, witness a very peculiar performance of puppetry, and learn a few fascinating tidbits about the life of the host extraordinaire in a single night?
Survival of the Filthiest will leave audiences, not just with a smile on their face, but a genuine curiosity about the world they inhabit (not to mention, the desire to share with their friends all the fun things Natalia taught them about other species).
