What I liked
I loved the humor, the continuous use of the song “hook” to drive the plot forward, the audience interactive elements, and Danthony’s slightly self-aware performance of the whole thing. If it was taken too seriously, it would be off putting but having it feel like we were all in on the joke was very rewarding.
What I didn't like
Hard to say, I thought it being a little rough around the edges was actually part of the charm. My only criticism is, I think having one audience member stuck as Baby Man the entire time hampered his experience since he couldn’t actually watch the rest of the performance. Not sure how to address that, but I just know having one audience member essentially just be a prop the entire show is a little difficult for them.
My overall impression
Amazing! Truly like nothing I’ve experienced before. I had a blast and felt very inspired about the experience. I love the idea of an interactive play, the music element was very fun, and Danthony is such an engaging performer. Great work!
