The grapes. What a moment. More of the Venezuelan song with that mesmerizing time signature please.
What I didn't like
The moving of the microphones was distracting, and the space was small enough that it wasn’t totally necessary, this added to the transitions not feeling like they were as well rehearsed as the pieces between them. The performances always pulled me back in, but tighter transitions would have made it seamless.
Also I didn’t love that you told us that you were only doing a half a song, cuz of how complicated it was. Don’t tell me that, let me figure it out on my own if I can.
My overall impression
This was fantastically imaginative night of theater. Incredible music, played by wonderfully talented and polished musicians. Beautiful voices, incredible dance/clown/movement moments always adding to the dreamy and thoughtful sounds and words that the music brought to the front. Together they all played a kick-ass balancing act between totally grounded and spiritually other-worldly.
The sets and costumes were equally magic and wonderful. Beautiful and dripping with creation and imagination.
Plus puppets and marionettes! Come on!
It was like a night in Titania’s court. Whimsical, magical and truly inspiring.
