This is an ambitious show and one that uses its ensemble and unique ideas to great effect. I appreciated its humor, its tech elements, the fact it had an original score, and the opportunity to relive the energy of college again. College can be its own alternate reality that, in this case, is made further unreal by the pandemic, and further unreal by psychedelics, and even further unreal by the fact that it’s theatre.
What I didn't like
Because this show has so many ideas it’s bringing to the table, I’d love to see more of these explored further in the next iteration. Several stylistic devices, like the individual walks to take out the trash, are clever and could possibly be utilized multiple times, like a stylistic leitmotif.
My overall impression
It’s altered reality upon altered reality as Covid-era college friends decide to use their school’s newly-declared “Wellness Wednesday” to trip acid together and get deep (and not-so-deep), reflecting on identity, life paths, and the found family we can take a long time to discover, but may not always last beyond the circumstances that created it.
