A simple premise that literally unravels. But where this production shines brightest is when these two actors find their connection to each other. When they’re tuned in, the energy between them is absolutely electric. It’s clear both actors have the chops to take on this absurdist existential piece.
What I didn't like
The show ran 10 minutes long which is a deadly faux pas in the fringe world. Time will be shaved when the actors solidify their lines.
The production fails to note which generic white-guy-named actor plays which role—-oh snap; I just got the Terri/Therri/tarry/terrible joke! —-so, Sweater Guy is staged in such capacity that he is all but invisible beyond the front row for what feels like a. Very. Long. Time. No clue what he was doing. Sounded like an emotional journey. And Guy in White ought to have been directed to not drop energy at the end of lines (the sighing and thigh slapping, an easy to squash actor habit that makes loads of difference).
In short, a stronger directorial hand and outside eye could elevate this clever production from pretty decent to excellent.
My overall impression
What we have here, my fellow theatre nerds, is a deliciously fun script and existential crisis!
