Noadiah has great physical stage presence and timing. He does more than simply relate a story. He invites the audience into a vivid experience with him and the show comes alive. It’s the story of a mother and son, but so much more. And it’s set within the context of a complicated and polarized world in which family members gathering for Thanksgiving don’t necessarily agree. This is a story with laughter, charm and profound moments of connection – and failing to connect.
What I didn't like
I’m waiting to read the book to know more about each of the characters since there is only so much you can do in a single show.
My overall impression
I couldn’t recomment this show more. It is beautifully written and paced, with startling and poignant moments in his relationship to his mother and an extended family over decades. The entire narrative takes us on a journey that visits old loves and brothers like Nathan, the birth of a son, and a cigarette-smoking mother, who growls in a low voice. Prepare to be surprised!
