I loved how Johnny used the space and a few well thought-out props to convey such rich vignettes. Gabriella Westwood, Jaclyn Fleming, and Marali Natalia each added beautifully nuanced performances to their respective scenes. The scenes and the in-betweens were so relatable to the plight of the struggling artist, and Johnny’s final conclusion were both inspiring and life affirming. I also loved how he shined a spotlight on the venue, the Women’s Club of Hollywood.

My overall impression
In Development was a beautiful impression of the artist’s experience in a world that often makes the artist feel like they are never enough. It was a thoughtful and insightful journey as told by the colorful and archetypal characters in Johnny’s imagination. It was fresh, relatable, funny, & poignant. His characters showcased his impressive range as an actor as well as a writer.
