This was the first of many shows I’ve seen so far for 2026 Fringe and what a way to kick things off. Since Johnny doesn’t share a venue with other shows, he’s able to provide a unique experience with red carpet, snacks (free), easy parking, and a set/tech that leans towards a non-festival play. But had he had none of that, In Development would still have been a success from the performances alone. There’s fantastic humor and vulnerability to inspire fellow artists and non-artists alike. If you want a show that runs the gamut of emotion, this is it.
What I didn't like
They could have charged for tickets. It’s free😁
My overall impression
Johnny is a master of his craft. He’s able to bring to life pieces that are humorous, thought-provoking, and sentimental, and give beautiful context for his characters through personal interstitials. The three actresses he shared the stage with were great and shared/amplified his vulnerability.
