Everything about the show was raw, powerful, and the perfect visual representation of what actors live to bring their art to life.
What I didn't like
Not a fucking thing aside that the entire world would be a better place to see such a show.
My overall impression
There has always been something about comedy that stands apart from drama. Making people laugh is a skill. Making them feel is another. But when an artist can seamlessly master both at the same time, that’s where true brilliance lives. That brilliance is @johnnycannizzaro
Johnny Cannizzaro may be one of Hollywood’s best-kept secrets, but not for much longer. The secret is getting harder to keep.
From day one in Los Angeles, through a certain acting class that shall remain unnamed, Johnny and I connected immediately. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of watching him develop these characters from early concepts and rough sketches into a fully realized and polished production.
In Development with Johnny Cannizzaro is much more than a comedy showcase. Yes, it’s laugh-out-loud funny from beginning to end, but beneath the humor lies something deeper. It becomes an emotional, personal, and intimate exploration of identity, creativity, and the often complicated journey of being an actor. As the show unfolds, the line between character and creator begins to blur, giving the audience a rare glimpse into both the performer and the person behind the performance.
Every moment feels intentional. Every character is distinct, memorable, and fully lived in. The writing is sharp, vulnerable, and honest, while John’s performance showcases a range that few performers possess. He effortlessly moves between comedy and drama, earning laughter one moment and genuine reflection the next.
Having watched many of these characters evolve over the years, seeing them come together in this production was nothing short of remarkable. It’s the kind of performance that reminds you why live theater matters and why storytelling remains one of the most powerful forms of human connection.
In Development with Johnny Cannizzaro feels less like a breakthrough and more like the moment before everyone else finally catches up to what those of us who’ve known him from the beginning have seen all along.
