What I liked
At the very top of the show, Leo gives a land acknowledgement to best all land acknowledgements. I was so moved by his poetic words, the musicians thrumming their instruments, the drama, the images. . . in this way I really felt the impact of it – this is the way it should always be done.
Loved the costumes, the beautiful backup singers, the adorable way that Leo is at once commanding yet also humble and funny at times.
The musicians in this band were TOP NOTCH – I greatly enjoyed all the brass, guitar, drum solos and musical stylings on these classic songs.
Also enjoyed the sprinkling in there of original music! Well done. Not easy to blend classics with originals but you all did it very well.
What I didn't like
I loved it so much – I only wished it could go longer and maybe have a dance portion because we were wiggling in our seats. But the performance of it was epic so I was also glad at times that I was able to just take that in and witness it.
My overall impression
If you love Latin music RUN to this show! Hell, if you love music period you should run to this show! One of my all time favorite shows I’ve seen this year. Incredible performance of Latin music classics sung by Leo as though they had never been sung before. With such intense passion and commitment! I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything quite like this! Leo gives all his love to his performance! My friends and I were singing along at times to well-known lyrics, dancing in our seats, and brimming with tears at times. If you didn’t catch this generous performance you missed out.
