I really liked the cast’s expressions and physicality, especially Stella’s. Her frustration and contempt came across beautifully and hilariously, albeit silently. The perfect “straight man” (forgive the phrase) to Kirk’s antics.
I also loved the integration of the actors within the audience, although I won’t say more and spoil it!
What I didn't like
There were several times when the cast (and crew) were whispering to each other that I think I was supposed to be able to overhear; I couldn’t because it was actual whispering instead of stage whispering. That was kind of a bummer.
My overall impression
This show is earnest, zany, and deeply satirical. It’s a history lesson! It’s a two-person (three? four? five-person?!) variety show! It’s a multilayered look at misogyny! It’s a hoot! I laughed, I grimaced, I laughed some more, I grinned at the touching ending to a fascinating and funny show.
