What I liked

Stellar writing and performances. Especially powerful to see this on Father’s Day. It had me reflecting on my relationship with my dad, his understanding of my art, my own struggles with balancing work and art and life and wondering what has to give in order to genuinely find that balance. The second act’s swirl of realism, optimism, and cynicism leaves plenty to contemplate well after the play has concluded.

My overall impression

I don’t know the last time I saw a show that had me so tightly in its grip. An incredibly effective and moving piece — a mirror especially for milennial gay artists who have wrestled with the importance of doing art and following passions while navigating a world where the “easiest thing to do” is to not do the thing you love.
