I absolutely loved Sand. Their dreams about a world of meat were so poignant and hilarious and I really felt that character going through the process of humanizing and dehumanizing themself and those around them. The scene between Arrow and Crysanthemum where they discuss the story of Adam and Eve and the original sin was so riveting and thought provoking. Also not nearly enough can be said about the performance of the fisherman, but I will say I was absolutely in awe of him from the moment I laid eyes on him. I also truly felt the change that occurred in all the characters when they brought themselves to murder the doctor, just as much as I felt the freedom and power in the scene where they threw the food into the ocean and gave grace to everything they possibly could in their lives whether it was something they seemingly hated or seemingly loved.
What I didn't like
I don’t have anything to address as far as improving this play! I was impressed by every bit of it!
My overall impression
I was blown away by how well written, well acted, well set and just overall how well executed this play was! I’m admittedly not a frequent theater goer but this play locked me in immediately! All the characters are so thoroughly written and powerful in their own right, and each and every performance showed that and more! But for every bit of intensity and seriousness contained in this play, there is just as much sharp and effortless humor! An awesome and thought provoking experience through and through that’ll make you question your relationship with yourself friends, your family and even yourself, but perhaps most importantly with meat… Bravo to everyone involved!!
