What I liked

This production stayed with me long after the curtain fell. I was deeply moved to tears and left feeling both heartbroken and hopeful. The attention to detail—from the intentional use of color in the props to the historical and cultural symbolism woven throughout—created a story with incredible depth and layers. Every choice felt purposeful.

What impressed me most was the director’s ability to bring truth to the stage by addressing the elephant in the room with both courage and humanity. I found myself unexpectedly proud to hear racism, historical harm, and generational pain spoken about so directly—not to blame, shame, or create guilt, but to invite honest reflection. It reached into something much deeper and created space for conversations that are often avoided but desperately needed.

One line has stayed with me since the performance: “Love crept in like a disease.” I won’t spoil the context, but it’s one of those rare lines that lingers long after the lights come up. Brilliant writing.

History is not meant to be erased because it is painful. It is meant to be remembered so we can learn, heal, and choose differently. This production held both the beauty and the brutality of our past without asking the audience to look away from either.

This director/producer deserves to be funded to bring this story to the screen. Its themes are timely, universal, and deeply human. I believe this work has the power to strengthen communities by creating space for honest dialogue, healing, understanding, and growth. A feature film could carry that impact far beyond the theater and reach audiences around the world. I wholeheartedly support investing in this vision and cannot wait to see what they create next.

What I didn't like

My overall impression

The detail and depths of the storyline it’s incredible. There’s a lot of content the hits on current topics and tying them to his historical journeys. Even though this is fictional, it touches on many layers of our societies history.
It’s a remembering and knowing if you’re willing to hear and feel the story at its depths.
