What I liked
Acting is very good. Play starts with a powerful opening by Patricia (Megan S.) depicting a magnificent bear with her striking eyes. Harun (Faith H.) is superb; he draws you into the play with his gestures and mimics and fills up the stage. His experience in directing is obvious.
The play juxtaposes Jack (Thomas W. ), (high strung, driven for wealth and control over nature), against Harun, (a relaxed, content, creative carpenter with very modest possessions, but love and appreciation is of nature). This creates the tension with unexpected twists and turns.
I liked Bleeding Bear better than Prime Trust (Pulitzer Prize) when I saw it 3 days later at Mark Taper Forum (subscriber for 40+ years).
What I didn't like
I felt the set design had room for further development, but the acting and atmosphere were strong enough to fully draw me into the play.
My overall impression
I attended bleeding Bear play on a Monday night and enjoyed it VERY much. It keeps your interest without any letup. It has a lot of physicality with simple prompts. Presented in an intimate venue, you feel like you’re part of the play.
