What I liked

This kind of show is right up my alley. It feels like a spoof of a one man show some stuffy English professor would write and make his students watch. Jordan commits so fully here, and it’s infectious to see him exhaust himself onstage playing every part, making every sound effect, and delivering these wild monologues. The setup of it being an “unreleased” podcast only adds to the legend.

It’s very refreshing to see a fringe show dive into an archaic period of history (“Venice, a mosaic of secrets…”) and commit to it fully. A lot the humor comes from how specific it all is, and yet it’s all so relatable. Who among us hasn’t been called to action for tasks we don’t feel qualified for? Who among us hasn’t wanted to impress our loved ones? Who among us hasn’t woken up to a seagull pecking us where the sun don’t shine?

I also love that it packs a ton of fun into 30 minutes, and leaves you wanting more. Well directed, well acted, well produced! Bravo!

My overall impression

A full-on epic historical saga, presented by a worldly man of letters! I love how serious this show presents itself (As an “unreleased” podcast lol), and how unbelievably stupid it is. I was laughing all the way from Venice to Crete!

Jordan has crafted the perfect vehicle for his talents, and it’s a real joy to watch him firing on all cylinders here. It’s so fun to watch someone who clearly loves history and history podcasts/shows spoof those shows and the type of people who make them.
