What I liked

I loved the nuances of Bailey and Jess’s characterizations of Ben and Matt. Their many fun, bold choices keep it simultaneously emotionally grounded, yet over the top. The energy between these dynamic performers can only be described as “Like young Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, but way funnier.” I laughed a lot, and felt for them as their relationship was strained by their competing visions of how to make it in this business we call “show.”

What I didn't like

We saw a preview/rehearsal performance, so I’m sure the few bumps will be ironed out. The only real flaws I noticed were minor, and feel like they will be addressed, like the very end where we hear a real recording of the Ben/Matt Oscar speech, the timing was weird because the recording kept going after it seemed like it was done. But I had no big issues.

My overall impression

Bailey and Jess give delightful performances in this silly yet heartfelt revival of a play that transports us back to a more innocent time: the 1990s. Going in, and simply knowing the logline of the show, I wasnt sure how you could sustain an entire narrative based on such a goofy premise, but their chemistry drives everything, keeping it engaging and fun the entire time.
