It’s well-acted, silly, and very funny. The surprise social commentary twist with the “final boss” took me by surprise and hit me hard in the feels. A truly terrifying nemesis. This isn’t meant to be a neg, but considering overall how silly a lot of the premiss, wigs, and dialogue are, it was surprisingly well-written. The callbacks were poignant and consistent.
What I didn't like
I don’t know. I didn’t have any idea what was going on. I wonder if there’s a way to fix that? I hope not.
My overall impression
I’m not entirely sure what I just saw, but I am entirely sure I laughed almost all the way through it. Tyler Foltz has created a funny, over-the-top, ridiculous, and somehow still moving and relevant show. You think it’s going to be him channeling his inner Marx brothers, but then he hits you with social commentary and a villain to compete with Gattica. I was taken to this by a friend and had no idea what I was getting into, and I’m glad she did that to me.
