About the Project

A live show where your favorite funny people perform spectacular staged readings of the strangest, weirdest, and most unintentionally hilarious comic book stories ever! You’ve never seen Superman and Batman like this!

Who doesn’t love old superhero comic books from the 50’s and 60’s? You know, the kind with ads for X-Ray Specs and Sea Monkeys? Well, if you haven’t flipped through one in a while, it turns out they’re full of double entendres, strange sci-fi, and a surprising amount of sex appeal!

Comics Reading Comics is the show that brings these crazy comic books to life! We’ve assembled an all-star cast of stand up and sketch comedians and to perform these unbelievably funny stories word-for-word before your very eyes, complete with handmade props and silly costumes!

STARRING

DAN MINTZ - Dan is the voice of Tina Belcher on Bob’s Burgers and a hilarious stand up comedian with a new special out called “Well Rounded Entertainer.” Watch what happens when he plays Superman in our show on 6/7!  (@thisisdanmintz)

DANA GOULD – Dana is a legendary standup comedian, writer for The Simpsons, Ted, and much more. He also hosts the podcasts Hanging with Dr. Z and The Dana Gould Hour. Now he’s playing Superman in our show on 6/14! (@danagould)

STANZI POTENZA - With nearly 10 million followers on TikTok, Youtube, and Instagram, Stanzi is a self-described “sketch commedian from hell.” You’ve seen her in Civil War Love Saga, Heaven and Hell, and What Fresh Hell is This? Now see her as Batwoman, Lois Lane, and more in all three of our shows! (@stanzipotenza)

COLIN STANLEY – Best known as “Little Victorian Boy” to his hundreds of thousands of followers on Instagram, Colin is also an accomplished stand up comic, writer, and actor.  You can see him in the sketch team Corduroy, and now you can see him in Comics Reading Comics on 6/7 and 6/14! SERRA NAIMAN – You’ve seen her rating horses and generally being absurd and hilarious for her hundreds of thousands of followers on social media. She also acts, writes, and performs sketch comedy in Corduroy. Now see her in our show on 6/14 and 6/22! (@serra.naiman)

CHARLIE JAMES – Charlie is becoming a breakout star in the stand up comedy scene. He co-hosts Gentleman’s Club at Dynasty Typewriter, performs in UCB’s first all-trans/GNC improv show, Joy, and now you can see him fight Superman in our show on 6/7! (@malecowgirl)

FIFI DOSCH – Fifi is an incredible stand up, a trans influencer, a writer for Beavis and Butthead, and even a professional wrestler where she performs as the fearsome Daphne Wreckage! Watch her become Batwoman in our show on 6/22! (@fifidosch)

ALEX FELDER – Felder is a well-known star in the LA imrprov and sketch scene. He performs and writes for the skech team Corduroy and is a member of the improv team Blood Pact, both at the Pack Theater. He also performs in Writer’s Block at the Lyric Hyperion! RICKY CARMONA – Ricky is a fantastic stand up comedian who’s performed all over the country, a writer/performer on Tosh.0, and even a DJ at clubs all around LA! You’ve seen him appear on Horror’s Greatest on Shudder, and Tales from the Clip’t. Now see him be The Man of Steel in our show on 6/22! (@rickycarmona)

TK KELLY – TK is a hilarous stand up comedian, a writer/performer on Tosh.0, and currently writes and does all the voices for the very popular cartoon Pete & Possum on YouTube. See him become Batman at our show on 6/14! (@peteandpossum)

MADS DURBIN – Mads is a well-known comedic actor who’s starred in Spongebob Squarepants: The Musical, performed in varioius immersive theater productions around Los Angeles, and appears as beloved characters at theme parks like Knott’s Berry Farm and Universal Studios. Now, watch Mads perfectly embody Robin, the Boy Wonder, in all 3 of our shows! (@dungeonmadster)

YOUR HOSTS

NICK MALIS – He was the head writer/executive producer of Tosh.0, a writer on Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Howard Stern Show, and more! He does stand up all over the country, directs the sketch team Corduroy, and  also runs the popular Instagram account Out of Context Archie Comics. SHOSHANNA GREEN – She’s toured the country as one half of the vaudeville team Sidetracked, is a member of the nihlist children’s band Pyropodes, a writer and performer for the sketch team Corduroy, and a genuine Shakespearan actress at Theatricum Botanicum. She also makes all the incredible cardboard props you’ll see in the show! (@shoshishow)
