What I liked
An absolute must-attend event if you participated in or followed the festival. The 18+ policy keeps the party focused on the adult indie theatre crowd, and not needing a ticket makes it super accessible to just walk up and join. Just make sure to get there early around 6:00 PM to grab a good spot before the actual awards start at sunset—it fills up fast with eager artists and fans!
What I didn't like
Winning or even just being nominated for a Top of the Fringe or partner award here feels incredible because it’s presented right in front of your peers. The mix of tension before the winners are announced and the giant celebration afterward makes it the emotional peak of the whole festival. If you want to see independent LA theater at its most passionate, this is the night to attend.
My overall impression
There is no better way to cap off the Fringe month than the Closing Night party! The outdoor courtyard at the LA LGBT Center provides the perfect backdrop as sunset hits and the awards kick off. The energy is unmatched—everyone is cheering for nominees across categories, celebrating each other’s creative risks, and letting off steam after weeks of non-stop theater. It’s warm, chaotic, and pure community joy.
