Costumes, props, physical comedy, the writing, the music. The Abbess’ was impressively strong and commanding—the adult in the room—and her protection of the silly Queen was touching. Loved the executioner’s character, too.
What I didn't like
I was at the preview, so main glitch was the Queen forgetting her lines, but she was charming about it and so that reassured the audience.
Also, I was distracted by so much smiling from the tall, curly-haired youth. Was it part of his character—was not clear.
My overall impression
Creative, witty, and fast-paced—the rhyming couplets dialogue so clever and hilarious.
Performers are excellent, and the two musical numbers were (for me) an unexpected plus!
