Maddie. On paper, just the concept of a Doll Court is great, but Maddie elevates the experience 10 fold with her unique style and humor.
Daniel. Every sound cue was flawless.
The audience participation. I wasn’t expecting as much audience participation as there was. I love that every Doll Court show is unique because of this. I’m also a little sad that I don’t get to see how every show plays out.
What I didn't like
No notes. Loved everything including the venue (wig shop).
I do want to share a thought I had after the show. I wish I was an exec at Netflix or tv. I’d try to make doll court into a tv show. Every episode would be a different crime. Celebrity guests would improv as the dolls. But… A great part of this show’s charm is the audience participation and how intimate the experience feels. Not everything should be TV, I suppose.
My overall impression
Doll Court was one of my favorite theater/comedy experiences of my life. It will stay with me forever. I hope I get to see this show again someday.
Why do so many of us stop playing with toys as we grow up? Who is telling us to stop and why?? I think Doll Court makes a strong case for adults to keep playing with toys and not lose our sense of whimsy. Life is too damn short to not be whimsical. Thank you Doll Court for reminding me.
