There’s a childlike playfulness to this show that doesn’t need to be fully developed to be hilarious/effective. I found myself delighted by every new character introduced during our trial, and I was especially impressed by how well Maddie speaks through doll body language. 15/10 would see this show again. 03/10 I’ll be able to convince anyone to join me.
What I didn't like
I think my heart wanted to step up and take on a doll from the cast (I felt very invited by Maddie to do so), but my mind/body couldn’t bring myself to stand up, interrupt the flow, walk up to the bench and actually pick up a character- the space felt too intimate to successfully do this without interrupting the story/mood Maddie was setting. I think I would have felt more comfortable if some of the dolls/the set in general were positioned more IN the audience so that jumping in doesn’t require as much effort/feel as interrupty.
My overall impression
I’ve been telling everyone I know about how much I loved this show, and I’m getting a lot of raised eyebrows and “that’s nice, Griffin”s. One day I’ll find you, friends who listen to my recommendations…and I’ll tell them what I’m telling you now: Don’t! Miss! This! Show!
