What I liked
I like that even though the family members had their struggles, they continued to strive for a better life and saw a future for themselves to be an agent for change in their community. I enjoyed the comedy and light heartedness with the bilingual (Spanglish) mode of communication. It reminds me of home. I enjoyed the music too!
What I didn't like
I cannot suggest any modifications to the play, but offering light refreshments prior to the show might be nice and a way to donate to the playhouse.
My overall impression
Wow! What a story. A great portrayal of family life on the edge of society. The Single Mom’s struggle to support her family of 2 teen daughters depicts the issues of environmental issues, cultural beliefs, social stereotypes, and the international relationship with Mexico. The Gallina is a bright light in the story of gloom vs the Powers that Be.
