I really enjoyed the third act, I thought the actor who portrayed the slimy boss was fabulously hateable, and the main character was very sympathetic. They did a great job. The first act was all about family and it took me some time to realize one of them was supposed to be an alien, but makes sense in hindsight. The second act was a ghost story, not obvious from the start. I legit was caught by the twist.
What I didn't like
It took me a while to figure out what was going on in the stories, and some of the transitions didn’t make sense as an outsider to the process. Since these were developed from improv sessions it’s understandable, but more information for the audience would make it easier to understand. Maybe some green face paint on the alien, for example, vs the headband that could just be a quirky dude from the 90s.
My overall impression
I was impressed to hear, shortly before it started, that the play was the brainchild of an improv group and developed out of skits they had done. It takes some imagination on the part of the audience, but each story has a sci-fi element as well as a twist ending. Some of them were more easy to us out early in than others.
