Each of the three stories was equally strong, and I loved that the show started with a lighter story before moving progressively darker. I really enjoyed the second story about the Big Brother and Little Brother: it’s so common to explore heartbreak in a romantic relationship, but to see it explored in such a unique friendship felt so fresh. It was incredibly moving and sad, and I’ll be thinking about that one for quite awhile. I loved how the show dealt with sensitive topics without ever feeling heavy handed, and many times I thought “why haven’t I seen this before?? We need more of THIS” (hard to explain without spoilers). The pacing of each story was fantastic and also classic TZ: the slow reveal of more and more information was so perfectly timed that the conclusion of each piece felt really organic and satisfying. My biggest takeaway was that I left wanting to know much more about each of the three stories and their characters.

My overall impression
I love when a story takes a familiar set up (no spoilers) and completely reinvents it. The show starts with a story about siblings going through their mother’s things, then moves to a damaged friendship, then finishes with a story about family and friendship expectations and the existential crisis of not meeting those expectations. These are familiar themes, but they were explored in such unique ways with completely original and three dimensional characters. The casting was superb: the actors worked so well together and fit each role perfectly. They were dealing with really complicated and heavy themes, and each actor carried these and expressed them with ease.
