What I liked
I thought the staging utilized the space very well! The set up of the play within the play was very well done and I loved the people on the side waiting to come in and help, and reacting to the show in real time. The chemistry between Petruchio/Kate and Bianca/Lucentio was excellent. My favorite scene was Kate & Petruchio’s wordplay battle. They had such great energy and the intention behind each line was so clear. I also loved that the cast brought their own personalities to each character; it felt like a living piece.
What I didn't like
A few of the actors could project a bit more. But that’s really it. Loved it!!
My overall impression
Lively, exciting production of Taming! The 60 minute cut was excellent, everything that needed to be there was there; it was easy to follow and entertaining all the way through. Each character had a clear POV, and each actor brought their own modern and expressive voices to the piece, which is such a treat to witness as an audience member! Fantastic direction from the staging to the blocking to the clarity and intention of the text. Would highly recommend for anyone needing a Shakespeare comedy fix!!
