I thought the simplicity of the staging and costuming helped keep the narrative crisp and clean, making it fairly easily understandable even for those not familiar with Shakespeare. In addition, Edward (Petruchio) and Melíza (Katherine) were both excellent in their roles, showcasing a relationship that is equal parts delightful and toxic as all get out. A very fun romp through Shakespearean Italy with plenty of fun gags for everyone.
What I didn't like
I got nothin. What, are you gonna write a better script than Shakespeare? No but seriously, an excellent show all around.
My overall impression
A very fun, smart, and punchy adaptation of Taming of the Shrew! It was a very fun take on a classic Shakespeare piece, helping to circumvent a narrative that can very easily devolve into misogyny and sexist stereotypes. Instead, you get a delightful hour of physical comedy, goofy cases of disguises and mistaken identity, and a romance that can best be described as “Oh God you two are both awful, you’re perfect for each other.”
