The set design and experience was immersive, elaborate and detailed. The costuming was brilliant. The performances were endearing. The dialogue was punchy and playful.
What I didn't like
The show tows the line between grounded comedy and farce, and maybe a choice between the two styles could be interesting if this show were brought back. It would be nice to see how the terminal environment with the ancillary characters also directly connects with the main story and deepens the frustration/antsiness of the main characters and their internal/external struggles.
My overall impression
The Layover will warm your heart with its relatability and make you think about the ways you too could be stuck at your proverbial terminal. The premise and performances were charming. You can tell the writer knows the airport terminal life well.
