Dana and Justin are such a dynamic pair as actors and creative partners. Dana’s writing was sharp, grounded, well-paced, and very funny. The direction seamlessly moved from dialogue scenes to stand up comedy scenes and immersed the audience in the plot. The basic premise of the play is an unknown woman tests out a famous male-comedian’s jokes to see if they’re actually funny or if he’s just a famous man — genius concept and so well-executed. I loved the climatic moment when Naomi reads Alex’s “boundary-pushing” material that so clearly comes off as sexist crap when Naomi delivers it. The cool part is we know and love Alex at this point, so we don’t write him off, we just want him to do better.
