What I liked
The acting was extremely grounded, especially from Eli, Axel, Cam, the Sheriff, and the…new guy hehe. The chemistry and intimacy between Eli and Axel was especially impressive. I found the switches between past and present to be very smooth and clear. I was very excited by this town which seems to be losing its faith, literally and figuratively.
What I didn't like
I think this play has so many rich characters and story lines that it could be a mini series! As a 90 minute play, I found myself wanting to know more about some of the roles which were on stage less. This is a beautifully built world which can be given all of its time.
My overall impression
A beautifully written portrait of a small town, with a rich, full characters and effortless dialogue. Eli and Axel’s story was especially touching.
