What I liked
As Liza points out, disco lyrics tend to share something in common: they are happy, upbeat songs, yes, but most of them are about persevering in the face of adversity. Frankly, if we’re all going to get through the next few years, we’ll need that energy more than ever.
The word that keeps coming to mind is “generous.” Liza is a very generous performer who has so much heart to share with the world it’s infectious. She knows when to hold for a poignant moment without taking herself too seriously but at the same time knows when to add some weight and meaning to her sillier moments. Something that can trip performers up in a show as interactive as this is that it can come across very “PLEASE LIKE ME,” but with Liza her playful give-and-take with the audience feels like she’s sending out invitations to a blow-the-roof-off rager she’s throwing next week — no trouble if you can’t make it, I just want you to know I invited you specifically.
