About the Project
During a break from her first ever talkie, legendary starlet Clara Bow tells us her story, from her humble beginnings in Brooklyn, her rise to stardom and her struggle to maintain her “It” status which has become more of a curse than a blessing. All while asking herself the question: Is it better to leave at the top or to let the world enjoy the spectacle of seeing you crash and burn?
In this 30 minute show that shifts between the not so glamorous real life and the dazzling world of silent cinema, Indra Manuela transforms herself into the original it girl: Clara Bow, decides to go past the mythic Hollywood star and gets straight into the woman herself, asking the questions: What is an it girl? What is that thing that makes us gravitate towards these women? What makes their light shine and suddenly go out? and most importantly: Why do we love watching it happen all over again?
