The score was a bop, the vocals impeccable, the staging was masterful (how they did SO MUCH in a space that size is crazy to me), the lighting made everything so intimate and focused our attention, the band was FIRE (and there was something about watching four grown and masculine men standing on the stage in the background and watching the scene and emotion and vulnerability that was playing out in front of them (when they weren’t playing) that really moved me. Honestly i could go on and on. So happy this show is out in the world. So proud of James for living his truth and sharing it with us. Can’t wait to go back in July.
What I didn't like
I honestly have no notes except maybe it was a tad too loud for the space 🥴 —but that may just be our middle-age ears showing.
My overall impression
Crying multiple times during a rock opera that is based on an alcoholic superhero was not on my bingo card for 2026. We’ve been following James around LA for 13+ years watching him sing but this show made us next-level fans. Only in a town as talented as LA is this show a fringe show. 10/10
