I just got back from NYC, seeing 7 shows on Broadway and JIMI DARKNESS was my favorite show! If I were a show producer I would give James Byous all my money! The music and story is so powerful and inspiring! I laughed and cried the entire show and I’m not even an alcoholic but if you are awake there is enough darkness in this world that it was so relatable on so many levels. Congratulations James for this brave and honest show and for giving so much of yourself. To rock those vocals in a show that is so close to your heart and vulnerable was nothing short of a SUPERHERO! Already bought tickets to come back!!...

James Byous takes a poignant look at the highs and lows of alcohol consumption and how inebriated feelings can be like that of a superhero but there is an ultimate downfall. No drink, no power. There is some real heart and soul in this show and I can't wait to see a non-fringe version. ...

Jimi Darkness is unlike anything I've seen before: a darkly funny, emotionally devastating musical that blends rock, gospel, and traditional musical theater into something wholly original. The story follows Jimi, a struggling musician and vigilante superhero whose powers are fueled by alcohol. As he begins attending AA meetings and confronting his addiction, he finds himself trapped between the fantasy of saving the world and the reality that he can no longer save himself. A top ten show for me!...

This show is fun and enotional at the same time! The music blends rock and gospel. It’s so delicate to put a musical about addiction and somehow they did it, so many people in the audience were crying. It’s a healing show in a fun way! I recommend 2000%...

James has accomplished a fantastic feat by writing and performing about an alcoholic's turbulent journey through life and the friends that love him. I knew this show was going to be great, but I didn't realize how great it would be. Everything from the music to the singing, the choreography and acting are seamlessly woven together in such a captivating way that you feel for Jimi's struggles because you are so drawn into his world that he's created for the audience. If you only see one show at fringe this year, make it be this one. ...
