What I liked
The physical comedy, sometimes bordering on slapstick, had the audience laughing, and the comedic delivery and timing from the whole cast was fantastic! Brittany Pirozzoli’s performance is a standout, perfectly playing the delicate balance of ‘Alice’.
It’s such fun to watch a Shakespearean play that you’ve never read or seen before!
What I didn't like
The tonal shift at the end is somewhat jarring after so much silliness, and feels a bit like it belongs to a different play. However, that may be down to the script itself.
My overall impression
Sometimes Shakespeare can require the audience to really work to follow the plot. This show is NOT like that. Even watching at 11am on a Sunday, I was able to easily relax into the plot and laugh my way through the numerous escapades.
Arden of Faversham is 80 minutes of hijinks, followed by a (somewhat brief) dénouement.
